In this job, here are some of the duties to be performed:

Our client in Birmingham, AL is looking for a Level 2 Systems Administrator to provide technical leadership and remote support to deliver excellent service to various customers. The role will involve providing leadership and technical direction to Tier 1 and Helpdesk staff, while also solving some of the more advanced technical problems for our customers.

We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, highly customer focused, patient, an effective communicator, self-initiating, has a positive attitude, and is able to prioritize and execute tasks without micro-management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Tier 2 Systems Admin:

  • Managing service requests, incidents, and problems through a ticketing system
  • Ensure day to day operations of IT infrastructure
  • Answering Inbound Service Calls as necessary
  • Advanced troubleshooting and administration of Windows based applications, Operating Systems (Desktop and Server) and Server Roles (AD DS, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Print Server, File Server, etc.)
  • Administration and troubleshooting of Citrix servers
  • Administration and troubleshooting of VMWare
  • Administration and troubleshooting of database technologies/software
  • Advanced troubleshooting of WiFi/Network
  • Leading periodic technical meetings
  • Completion of a yearly training plan/required certifications
  • Any other task or duty as assigned or required
Education: Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
To be considered for this job, candidates may be required to have the following skills and experience:

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • Advanced networking familiarity
  • Citrix Certifications
  • VMWare Certifications
  • Administrator/Engineer level Microsoft Certifications
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years providing technical support/Systems Administration
  • Leadership and management experience

Advanced experience in the following is helpful:

  • Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
  • Microsoft Server 2003, 2008, 2012
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange 2003-2010
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft SQL
  • VMWare and other hypervisors
  • Citrix
  • EMR/EHR/Practice Management Suites
  • Networking/Switching hardware
