ITAC Solutions Welcomes Trey Townsley to the Birmingham Office
Meet Trey Townsley, Recruiting Manager for ITAC Birmingham’s Office Professionals Recruiting Team. He will be responsible for managing the recruiters on the “office-side.” Moving from Colorado, Trey is thrilled to have an Alabama fall so that he can experience hiking and camping this time of year in the south! Read more about Trey in our Q&A:
Q: What are your responsibilities and goals?
A: I manage a team of office and professional recruiters and my goal with that is to exceed the expectation of the team and really develop those under me.
Q: Tell us about your background.
A: I went to Auburn. I have been in recruiting for a little over 4 years and within that I’ve been in a corporate environment as well as an agency.
Q: What made you choose ITAC?
A: It’s mostly the culture. I had the benefit of meeting with a few individuals on the team before I accepted the position. I really got a feel for their background and their team and how they saw their career growth and it seemed like a really good fit for me and the goals that I have.
Q: What are most looking forward to in this position?
A: I’ve had the benefit of having some really good leaders within my career and so in a management position, my main goal is to develop others and share the experiences that I have gained.
Q: What do you want candidates or client companies to know about you?
A: Within my career I’ve moved past simply submitting candidates for open positions and I’ve gotten to provide more of a consultative approach to different solutions. And so that’s my main goal whenever I’m given a new position to work on or a new team to build, I want to advise beyond the perfect candidate. I want to give feedback and essentially advise the client on how the market is operating and what they can expect from us.
Q: What’s your favorite part about working in Birmingham?
A: I grew up close to the water/beach in southern Alabama. After I moved to Colorado for a few years, I really missed the trees, but I also really enjoyed the mountains. Birmingham is a good mixture of not desert and some pretty good hills.
Q: Who is your biggest role model?
A: Both of my parents really showed me an entrepreneurial mindset and how to grow beyond a position or a title and how to invest fully into my career.
Q: Favorite quote or saying?
A: My favorite saying is “fail fast, fail often.” I don’t think you gain as much from success. I really like to push myself after not necessarily doing my best and learning from that and really growing with it.
Q: What is your favorite fall activity?
A: As it’s getting colder, I’m definitely pushing myself to go outdoors more. I’m planning on going hiking and camping as much as possible. I know it’s cold but it’s better than doing it in the heat of summer.
Q: What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
A: I really like to cook. I enjoy finding new recipes and pushing my skillset. I watch a ton of cooking videos.
Q: Are you a Netflix watcher, movie buff, or bookworm?
A: Probably Netflix. Anything I can binge that’s Sci-fi. I don’t like to re-watch things so I’m always checking for something new. I am currently watching Day Break, which is very strange, post-apocalyptic drama.
Q: Where is your favorite place to hang out in Birmingham?
A: I haven’t gotten out enough yet in Birmingham, but I have a list of places to check out. I am obsessed with Pizitz. I really like the Korean place.
