ITAC Solutions Welcomes Natalie Burns to the Birmingham Team
We are excited to welcome Natalie Burns to the Birmingham IT recruiting team! As a recruiter, Natalie will help candidates get noticed by the right people and companies, using our relationships with those companies to match candidates to positions they’re qualified for and desire. To learn more about Natalie, check out this Q&A:
Q: Tell us about your background and previous experience.
A: I graduated from Auburn University. After college, I interned on a deer farm and then worked for a 3PL brokerage in Houston. I got transferred to the Nashville office and became an environmental chemist. As an environmental chemist, I got to work on some really cool projects, like disaster relief. I just finished my master’s in clinical laboratory sciences, but here I am, not using my degree.
Q: What made you want to work for ITAC?
A: I love the culture here at ITAC. It’s like no other culture I’ve been around. The people are very chill, fun-loving, uplifting and positive–you just feel the vibe when you come through the door.
Q: What are you looking forward to in your new position?
A: I’m really looking forward to meeting new people, making connections and building relationships because really that’s what it’s all about.
Q: What’s one thing you really want candidates to know about you?
A: I want candidates to know that I’m a normal person too. They can tell me anything and I’m not going to judge them.
Q: What’s your favorite part about working in Birmingham?
A: I’m from Birmingham, and it’s cool to work in a city that 10 years ago wasn’t doing so well. Now, Birmingham is experiencing this revival, and it’s really cool to see. I love the new restaurants and bars!
Q: Who is your role model?
A: My dad. He definitely does the whole lead-by-example and treat others the way you want to be treated thing. Plus, it has been cool to watch him keep relationships with colleagues for 30-40 years.
Q: Favorite quote, saying or piece of advice?
A: My favorite quote is “Work Hard, Play Hard.” Work-life balance is important. You have to work hard at work, but also play hard and enjoy yourself.
Q: Favorite summer activity?
A: I love hiking, being outdoors and swimming. I’m really into exploring the state and finding different trails.
Q: What’s something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
A: I think most people would be surprised to learn that I worked in a lab for about 4 years. You don’t usually see technical personnel that are as extroverted as me.
Q: Where is your favorite place to hang out in Birmingham?
A: Brat Brot and then Rufner Mountain and Oak Mountain State Park for hiking.
- Tell us about your family.
A: My husband, Wilson, and I got married about 2 months ago. We have a giant dog, about 115 pounds, that looks like Ghost from Game of Thrones. We also have a really round cat named Pork Chop.
