Meet Carley McWilliams – Recruiting Coordinator in Birmingham

August 13, 2019

Carley McWilliams thrives in ITAC’s Birmingham office as the Recruiting Coordinator. Her self-starter attitude and passion for helping others makes her the ideal individual for this role. She is an animal lover, outdoor enthusiast and self-proclaimed nerd. To learn more about Carley, check out this Q&A:

Q: What made you want to work for ITAC?

A: Initially, what made me want to work at ITAC was the cool office.  I came in and everything looked super sleek and modern. It just gave off a really cool vibe.  Plus, I interviewed with Kate, one of our recruiters here, and she gave me a great first impression. She was personable and professional at the same time and indicated that ITAC had a cool culture.

Q:  What are your responsibilities as Recruiting Coordinator?

A: The recruiting coordinator role is all-encompassing.  It covers a lot of things.  It’s everything from onboarding paperwork to analysis of recruiting sources.  But my main focus is making sure everything runs smoothly on the recruiting side and confirming that we have the information needed to make good choices.

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

A: Being able to help people.  I work as a resource not only for our recruiters, but also for our recruiting and market leaders across all of our offices, so it’s really rewarding to work on different projects with them one-on-one.

Q: Tell me about your family and pets.

A: I have a super, close-knit family.  My brother and I spend a lot of time together. I actually have 7 animals (4 cats and 3 dogs), so a little bit of a zoo.  It can get a little out of hand, but I end up with a lot of rescues because I have a hard time saying no.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A: I do a lot of reading, and I enjoy doing anything outdoors – kayaking, camping, hiking, etc.  I live on a lot of land, and lately, I’ve been doing a bit of gardening, which is a new and interesting challenge.

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: The Count of Monte Cristo.  It’s such a good revenge story!

Q: What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?

A: I’m a total nerd.  I’m building my own computer right now. I have board game night once a week. But most people that have met me probably aren’t that surprised.

Q: Where is your favorite place to spend your free time?

A: My mom has a house on the Warrior River, and I spend a lot of time there to retreat from the city.  It’s an awesome experience because city life is not an all the time thing for me.

Q: What is your favorite Birmingham restaurant?

A: El Barrio. Their Ceviche is awesome!
