Meet Charles Baughman – Chief Administrative Officer

Charles Baughman was the eleventh employee hired by ITAC when the business began 19 years ago. Prior to joining ITAC, Charles worked with ITAC’s founders in staffing. In fact, when he moved into a corporate human resources role, Charles selected ITAC as one of his staffing partners.

“I had the opportunity to see how they did business, to understand that they operated very ethically” Charles said. “And when they approached me about joining the team, it felt like a very natural move for me.”

As ITAC’s Chief Administrative Officer, Charles is responsible for making sure that the vision of the founder, managing partner and other partners in the business is executed. His day-to-day responsibilities include managing human resources, marketing and the enterprise recruiting function within the organization. To learn more about Charles and his role at ITAC, check out this Q&A:

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

A: I’ve been here for 14 years, and my favorite part of my job is that no two days have ever been the same.  That’s incredibly exciting to think about coming to work every day to learn something new and face different challenges.

Q: Tell us about yourself. Hometown? Family? Pets? Hobbies?

A: I’m originally from Florida, but I’ve lived outside of Florida for most my life. My family is scattered throughout the country in California, Montana and New Mexico.  I have two amazing cats: Gus and Ollie. Gus is a hairless cat who just turned 12—he is my buddy.  Ollie is a little short-haired kitten.  They keep me very busy, but in my free time, I enjoy traveling, cooking and trying new food.  I try to exercise so that I can try new food, and I play some tennis.

Q: What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?

A: Most people would be surprised to learn that I went to college on an academic and a vocal performance scholarship—the latter is probably the piece that would surprise everybody.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Birmingham?

A: My favorite restaurant in Birmingham is Hot and Hot Fish Club.  It has been around for a long time, and I love the experience every time I go.  It remains my favorite place, but it’s a special place that I go maybe once or twice a year.

Q: Where is your favorite place to spend your free time?

A: My favorite place to spend my time is actually at home.  I have a great house with a nice courtyard, and it’s just peaceful.
