Are you ready to lead the financial operations of a dynamic company in Birmingham, AL? Our client is seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee the accounting division. This role is essential to the company’s continued growth, ensuring financial accuracy across all the company.
The Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s financial health and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all accounting operations. Reporting directly to the owner, the Controller will oversee a team of four direct reports and be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions, preparation of financial statements, and managing the month-end close process.

Compensation: $100-120k annually
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and strategic planning.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of four accounting professionals.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Collaborate with the owner and executive team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants.
What You’ll Need to be Considered:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the software industry is a plus.
