Accounts Payable Specialist / AP Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team for a full-time contract opportunity in Birmingham. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working through complex invoice details, and keeping financial processes running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

• $23–$25/hour

What You’ll Be Doing

• Process vendor invoices and payments while matching invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
• Perform three-way matching and research discrepancies to ensure accurate processing
• Prepare payment files, ACH transactions, and electronic uploads within the ERP system
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
• Assist with sales and use tax filings and related payment processing
• Support financial statement audits and other accounting projects
• Maintain accurate records while managing a high volume of transactions

What You’ll Need to be Considered

• 3+ years of experience with high-volume Accounts Payable processing and invoice matching
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets and financial data
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Ability to research and resolve complex invoice or vendor-related issues
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
