We are currently assisting a long-time client in the Utilities Services Industry as they search for a seasoned professional to join their team in Birmingham, AL, as an Assistant Accounting Manager!

Salary: $98,000 – 122,000/yr.
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Location: Birmingham, AL (35222) | 100% on-site

What you’ll be doing:

• Reconcile and adjust 280 General Ledger accounts monthly
• Close the General Ledger monthly and yearly and review other accountants' work
• Oversee bank and invoice functions for annual audits
• Supervise accountants for inventory reports and count
• Record long-term debt transactions, including bonds
• Prepare and review cash reconciliations from all payment sources
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports for Assistant General Manager
• Prepare work papers and schedules for water rates and cost studies
• Account for Pension and OPEB Trusts
• Supervise 6-8 employees according to organizational policies and laws

What you’ll need to be considered:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
• ACTIVE CPA License required.
• 8+ years of Accounting experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Federal Grant and Lease Accounting Exp. – highly preferred.
• Advanced Excel Abilities; SAP ERP (HUGE plus)
