Title: Payroll Accountant
Role type: Direct Hire / Full Time
Location: Birmingham, AL / On-site
Compensation: $85,000-95,000 (DOE)
What you'll be doing:
- Reviewing and approving various payroll-related tasks, including timecards, commissions, bonuses, state and local payroll taxes, garnishments, and paid leave balances
- Coordinating changes to employees' status, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and researching tax implications of employee changes
- Calculating and reviewing payments
- Handle all journal entries and reconciliations related to payroll
What you'll need to be considered:
- Experience processing high-volume payroll (at least several hundred employees)
- Strong payroll experience – 10+ years
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Education and Credentials:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Degree in Accounting, preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good interpersonal written and verbal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Reliability, organization, attention to detail, focus, and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong multitasking skills and effective time management
