Here’s what you need to know!
Title: Payroll Specialist

Role type: Contract-to-Hire / Full Time
Location: Homewood, AL / On-site
Compensation: $25-30/hr (DOE)

What you'll be doing:

  • Execute payroll processing in accordance with weekly and bi-weekly deadlines, which may involve the creation of certified payrolls for job sites when required.
  • Engage with accounting software to establish new hires within the system, make adjustments to tax withholdings and deductions, input and process all payroll data, and transfer ACF files to the company's banking treasury platform.
  • Administer weekly, monthly, and quarterly federal and state withholding tax payments, as well as the preparation of annual W-2 forms for employees.
  • Compile and deliver weekly and monthly reports to the 401(k) service provider, along with transmitting employee contributions.
  • Create and circulate weekly reports on hours worked and labor distribution to the management team.
  • Validate the accurate application of fringes and PT&I rates to job accounts.
  • Input accounts payable entries for benefits vendors and issue checks when necessary.
  • Organize and manage files related to payroll, including scanning and storing documents in a digital imaging system.
  • Input labor charge adjustments as required by project management.
  • Perform reconciliation of the payroll bank account and submit it for review and approval by a supervisor.

What you'll need to be considered: 
Education and Credentials:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • Multi-state payroll processing experience (not outsourced)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Intermediate-Advanced MS Excel Skills
  • High Attention to Detail
  • Quick Learner
  • Self-starter

  • Experience with Vista/Viewpoint
